OK, this might crack some of you up. It might make some of you gag.

But I was doing a simple google search for ‘eborn’ and found this entry on some woman’s blog.

Apparently, when Herr Eborn was teaching German in Twin Falls, one of his female students thought he was quite the dreamy dude.

The second year I studied German our teacher was a young man, fresh from college and single.  There was just something about him.  John was still there, still making my heart go pitty-pat, but there was just something about Herr Eborn that I could not resist.  He was young enough that he still blushed very nicely on occasion.  I found that rather endearing.  There were times he seemed to be flirting with one or another of the girls in the class.  I suffered such pangs of jealousy.  Didn’t he know I was the smartest girl in the class?  I had the best grades?  My accent was nearly flawless and my grammar perfect?  How could he be attracted to someone else?  I never knew just what there was about Herr Eborn.  After all, John was my first loyalty  – wasn’t he?  Several years later I found out that Mrs. Eborn (he got married during the summer after that year) was rather jealous of one of her husband’s students – me!  Could it be?  Was the irresistible attraction due to that greatest of charms?

About 42 years ago Herr Eborn, then a single Herr Eborn, had a teenage girl all atwitter.

I feel clean as a whistle

Mom and Dad took us to Celtic Woman Saturday night.

It was like an Irish Spring commercial. Only this was two hours long, the music was amazing and way better than a soap commercial.

Really, the music was incredible and we had a great time.

Soccer stars

Melissa and Emily had their first soccer games last week. We really thought Melissa would be a natural because she has so much energy and is quite competitive in everything she does. But we were surprised to find out Emily is the better player at this stage.

Melissa spends the entire game waving to us and trying to get our attention. Emily, on the other hand, chases the ball, tries to kick it and focuses in on the game.

It was a pretty cold day for their first game. Since then, things have warmed up a litte and they still love it.

Melissa lost another one.

She’s pretty darned excited about it. But was about to fall asleep when I took this picture.

We were released last week from our calling in the Nursery.  After a year with the tiny ones, we have made a lot of small friends in the ward.  We love it when they see us and smile and wave.  We have not recieved any new calling yet, which means we get to go to Sunday School.  And just sit there.  Next to each other.  While others do all the work of preparing the lessons, teaching our children, and making the ward run.  Jared has been in the primary for most of the last seven years, and we’ve had very young children during all that time, which means that just sitting back and enjoying church has until now been just a distant memory.  I know you all can relate.  Now our youngest is 4 and we have no callings.

I don’t know how long this will last, but we are liking it while it does.

Go fly a kite

I took Melissa and Sam to the park to fly kites — the really fancy $1.00 versions from Wal-Mart — and Melissa had success on a very windy day.

Sam, on the other hand, fell off the jungle gym at the park and bonked his head. So we went home before he got a turn.

Spring is here, right?

The wind is roaring and the temperature is up and down daily. Must be spring.

Not a bad day in Utah. Even if the bike is stuck in the garage.

Adventures with Sam

At first glance, Sam looks like his normal mischievous self. Smiling, happy and wearing scuffed-up glasses that we’re not going to replace until he sees the doc again in a couple of months.

A closer look, however, shows Sam is certainly mischievous.

Out little angle found the scissors and thought the haircut he just got a couple of hours earlier was not adequate. He chopped away until he had a nice little (well, not so little) bald spot in the middle of his head.

In case you’re wondering, the bald streak is almost a reverse Mohawk that’s just a bit off center and goes from the forehead to the crown in back.

He’s very proud of himself.

I, on the other hand, should know better than to leave scissors under anything but lock and key.

Swimming lessons

Melissa and Emily are enjoying swimming lessons.

Melissa (on the right with the pretty smile) is learning how to swim without help from an instructor …

… while Emily is a little fish and can fly across the pool just like a mermaid.  She’ll be a “Tigershark” in the Murray Aquatics Club in a few months.  Go Emily!!!

I’m ugly when I exercise

Here are some pictures of me during the triathlon last weekend.

As you can tell, my face is uglier than usual when I’m running, cycling or swimming.

Thankfully, there are no pictures of me in the swimsuit — I might be arrested for posting those online.

It also appears as though the long, snowy winter has taken its toll on my pasty white shoulders and arms. You can hardly see the biker’s tan lines on my massive pythonesque biceps.

If any of you want to do a triathlon with me, I’m also doing one on May 31 at Crystal Hot Springs. It will have a shorter swim in the pool. CLICK HERE to register and join me.
