To here in 2011 (photo actually 2010, but close enough)

We’ve come a long way. Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since we tied the knot. Hope the next 20 years are just as wonderful.

Champion

Kinsey has been a busy girl lately.

In addition to being a superstar debate queen (she’s going to Nationals in a couple of weeks, more on that in a different post) she has been running and jumping like crazy for the Murray High track and field team.

This week, the Spartans (with Kinsey racing in four events) captured the 5A Region II championship. She earned a trip to the state championships as a member of the 4×400 Relay.

We were not surprised to find her in the middle of the celebration.

What goes up

Must come down

Took advantage of what looked like perfect weather to take a bike ride up Emigration and East Canyons. Got to about a half mile from the Big Mountain Summit when the snow line forced an end to the climb and an ominous set of clouds decided to start sending down lightning, rain and sleet.

Made a quick descent, took shelter in an outhouse until the lightning stopped and finished up a few miles short of my goal, but happy nonetheless.

Fishy

Emily has found her thing — she’s a swimmer.

And, pardon the pun, she’s diving in head first.

The past couple of mornings she’s had a swim meet with a bunch of other kids from teams around the state and even some from Idaho. She’s kind of new to competitive swimming and her strength and endurance aren’t as good as they will be after another few months of practice, but she is doing great.

Melissa is right behind her and is in the ‘pre-comp’ classes and hopes to advance to the Murray Aquatic Club soon.

Eborn Family Christmas Party

WHAT: Eborn Family Christmas Party

WHEN: Dec. 18, 2010 — 4-7 p.m.

WHERE: Boy Scout Office Building in Ogden.

WHY: Because there will be lots of yummy food and plenty of cousins, aunts, uncles and a couple grandparents to hug.

WHAT ELSE: White elephant gifts for every kid. Please bring one gift (no more than $5 per gift) for each child in your family. We will then pile them up and let the kids, starting with the oldest so the youngsters get last pick at trading presents, have some fun.

We know not everyone will be able to attend because of travel or work situations, but we hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Emily, inventer of new words

The word ‘Butt,’ as we all know, is a bad word.

A while back, Emily let us know she does not like that word.

So, a while back, Emily was trying to discuss a part of her body that was particularly sore after a long session of kick laps during swim practice. She came up with a new word

“Dad, my bumtocks hurt.”

Emily the Amazing, once again

This just in: Emily Grace Eborn is amazing.

One of her school projects this month has been to build a model haunted house. As expected, Little Miss Amazing turned in a piece of art.

The attention to detail is remarkable. She’s got a graveyard, skeletons, spooky spider webs, etc. All over the thing.

The front porch and chimney are even impressive.

I gotta tell you, I love having talented, expressive and artistic children.

It’s so fun to see them work on projects like this and finish with something so amazing and easy for me to show off.

It’s almost a shame the holiday is now over. Maybe we’ll box it up and display it in the window next year.

Scarey, ain’t they?

It’s Halloween Parade time at school.

Nothing’s quite as scary as a Yellow Crayon, a vampire and the Greek Goddess Artemis
