There are some pretty rough characters down there.
Shana snapped a few photos during the trip to the arboretum with Sarah, Henry, Will, Lauren and Melissa.

Here they are, the tri amigos.
Official results are not posted yet, but JT was fastest, then Tanner, then Jason. I finished somewhere between first and last.
As I crossed the finish line the announcer dude said my name and then something like “I think every Eborn from Utah County is in this triathlon.”
I answered “there are no Eborns from Utah County.”
UPDATE: Final Results have been posted.
In the Men’s 40-44 age group, Jared was 8th, Jason 16th.
In the Men’s 15-19 age group, JT ws 8th and Tanner 18th.
In the overall race, JT was 62nd at 1:13.01, Jared was 69th at 1:13.52, Tanner was 109th at 1:19.15 and Jason was 121st at 1:20.56.
There were 193 men in the race.

It’s Shana’s turn to escape.
My lovely wife and super-duper awesome Melissa are enjoying a little spring break getaway with a trip to Dallas so they can visit her sister Allison and the rest of the Bairs.
As you can imagine, Melissa was beyond excited for her first trip on an airplane and every time she say a plane in the sky she’d ask if that was the plane that would take her to Texas. After several dozen “No, that is not the one” replies, I finally relented and said “Yes, that’s the one” a couple of days ago.
Melissa packed her own bag (which we, of course, had to unpack and repack so she had pants instead of just seven shirts) and has been anxiously waiting for the trip.
They’ll be back Sunday evening and, hopefully, the house will not collapse during their absence.

Emily’s school is great. It has lots of wonderful teachers and amazing activities.
It also comes up with a few ideas that don’t always make lot of sense.
Tuesday was one of those days. A few days before, they announced they were going to have a ‘grandparents’ program and they would sing songs and have cookies. That’s fine and dandy for those kids with grandma and grandpa in the neighborhood. But for Emily, the program came when both sets of grandparents would be busy at work — we stealthily asked to see what the availability was.
So Emily — much like many of the other kids in the class — sang to her parents, instead.
Actually, she sang to me and Sam since her mom was also at work and her dad crashed the grandparents-only program.
It was cute, very cute.

As you can tell by the lack of posts over the last three weeks, there has been ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happening with our family.
NOTHING.
I have not been busy with work. I have not been traveling anywhere and my wife and children have not had to deal without me at all.
Nope, things have been calm, peaceful and uneventful.

Like Jason, I registered for LOTOJA 2009.
And, like Jason, I’m also doing the cancer fund-raiser thing.
This time, however, Shana wants to do the ride as well — but as part of a relay instead of going all 206 miles.
Shana wants to do either the Logan to Preston leg or the Afton to Alpine stretch. I’ll ride along with her if she gets to do the first leg and then I will take off for the mountains.
Who wants to be on her relay team? You’ll need a strong set of legs to get from Preston to Montpelier. Or you’ll need a strong set of legs to get from Montpelier to Afton.
If you’re up to it, you’ll have some pretty great memories and we’ll have a great dinner at the finish line.
